Honey and 5-spice roasted pear

A dessert that is easy to put together, simple yet elegant.

Ingredients

4
pears, peeled, halved and cored
1/4 cup
butter or margarine, melted
1/4 cup
lemon juice
1/4 cup
honey
1/2 tsp
5-spice powder
1 tsp
orange zest
1 tsp
lemon zest
1 tsp
vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Toss pears in lemon juice to prevent discoloration.
  3. Combine melted butter, liquid honey, spices, vanilla and zest in a mixing bowl and add to pears.
  4. Place flavoured pears in an oven-friendly pan and roast for approximately 30 minutes or until pears become soft while still retaining their shape.
  5. Serve warm.

    1. 5 Spice Powder is an Asian cooking spice mix that includes star anise, peppercorns, fennel seeds, cloves and cinnamon. If you have trouble finding 5 Spice Powder at your local grocery store you can substitute All Spice or make your own version using equal parts of ground cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and black pepper.
