Fragrant Basmati Rice

Fragrant Basmati Rice

This lovely side dish pairs nicely with meat, fish or poultry.


  • 1 cup white basmati rice
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom
  • cinnamon stick
  • 1 1/2 cups water


Heat oil in a sauce pan.
Add the rice and spices to the pan and toast slightly.
Add the water and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer for approximately 15 minutes.
